Get your ants to follow pheromones in empire of the undergrowth Pc#
Ask them which one they would prefer and the answer seem to heavily favour the PC version. Something was wrong.Īsk someone who likes our game concept if they want a mobile version as well a PC and they will say yes. We were not looking for a huge amount of money, and by the end we had been seen by a lot of people, but the backing was not coming through. It was with this concept we launched our first Kickstarter which didn't completely fall flat, but it did fall short.
This subterranean warfare didn’t feel right, it wasn’t doing ants justice. Fast forward a year and a half our buggy engine is running an early build of the game but it was missing something. We decided to automate everything they did, if an enemy appeared they would attack it, if you tunnelled into the enemy colony, your soldiers would head right for it.įancying the challenge, we built our own engine. We did not want the player to have direct control as this would defy the point of the game, the creatures should really have their own minds. managing that would be a nightmare to master. The question arose: how do you control something that is by its very nature autonomous and numerous?. One of the core gameplay concepts was always to have the player focus on the bigger picture rather than individuals, after all, an ant colony is not about the individual ants themselves. We went about setting up a game where you would fight subterranean wars with other colonies, tunnelling out food and growing. The other one disappears. The idea started as Dungeon Keeper but with ants for mobile. If the player completes a double run when the daily reward counter is at 4/5, they will only receive the first reward. It's not the Queen Bee who attacks the player ant if a reward is taken without the Geranium, it is the same bee which appears if the timer runs out.Geranium cannot be taken out of the beehive. The maximum reward in each category per day: Rewards at the Queen Bee chamber: Resin, honeycomb and honeydew. A piece of honeycomb to summon the Asian Giant Hornet.Once the player has brought the Geranium flower to the Queen, they will be able to choose between 3 rewards to bring out of the nest. If the player acquires two rewards when they have already received four for the day, the sixth one will not be awarded. If the player does acquire 2 rewards in a single run, both will count towards the daily limit of 5. This is very difficult and requires a combination of speed, skill, and adequately long essence timer. Honey droplets will push the player ant downwards a bit if they fall on it, and wax balls will bounce off of the player if they touch it, pushing them back and sometimes teleporting them.Īfter a certain number of upgrades, it is possible to be able to grab two rewards using one bee essence. However, touching the walls of the nest, honey drops or wax balls reduces the bee essence timer by 10 seconds. The bee essence timer is usually long enough for the player ant to perform these tasks. (The bees inside the nest never move at all.) If bee essence runs out while the player is inside the maze, it will be found and killed in a matter of seconds by a bee which comes flying in from outside. The objective is to find the red flower (Geranium), find the Queen Bee, put her to sleep with the flower to prevent bees from killing the player ant, take a reward, and escape before the bee essence runs out. Once inside the nest, the player will find itself inside a maze. This makes bees unable to attack the player ant, making it able to slip past them and into the nest. It is recommended to use the resin, instead of gems.
What the player needs to do is apply bee essence on itself for 300 resin or 150 gems. Player ant with bee essence entering the bee nest Strategy Player ants should not bother bringing any soldiers with them, they can't win this battle. The player ant can only get on the bee hive with bee essence that can be bought in the Resin Shop. Worse, soldiers cannot fight back due to the bees' speed and flying ability. It is surrounded by about 10 bees, which can quickly kill soldier ants one by one. The bee nest or hive, is located under a branch in the top right of the tree.
